Hong Kong LEI × Pygmalion & Kids Eye
The 2020 education reform aims to develop "the ability to learn and humanity," "knowledge and skills," and "the ability to think, judge, and express." In the age of AI, where IT has advanced, people who can think and act for themselves are needed, rather than passively waiting for instructions. So, what should we do specifically? As research shows, "parents' mental stability influences the development of their children's social skills," so the way parents interact with their children in daily life is closely related to their children's thinking ability. At the workshop, we will welcome Takako Mochizuki, an expert in language education and early childhood education, to talk about how we should interact with children living in the AI era.
Our instructor, Professor Mochizuki, was also a lecturer at the previous workshop on bilingual education for young children. He specializes in early childhood education and linguistics, and recently won the Best Paper Award from the Japan Society for Japanese Language Education, a prestigious organization in the field of Japanese language education. http://www.nkg.or.jp/ He is a teacher with a wealth of experience and a proven track record.
In fact, language ability and the ability to think are very closely related. One might think that since we are in Hong Kong, we should be bilingual, but one theory is that poor language ability leads to weak thinking ability. It is also said that a child's mental stability has a big impact on their thinking ability. So, from the standpoint of both language education and early childhood education, how can we foster thinking ability and the ability to think? Today, we would like to ask the professor about such things, especially since we are in Hong Kong! We'll also be answering your questions and answering questions!
And as a bonus lesson:
This was solved by a 6-year-old! If you can do this kind of mental calculation, you can expect to make great strides in math when you start elementary school and beyond, where units, quantities, shapes, and space come into play. It also helps develop insight and foresight in the future, which is said to be beneficial for your whole life. (The video starts with the larger numbers.)
