原則として、７歳から８歳を超える犬は高齢と見なされます。平均して、犬は人間より７倍速く老化します。つまり、犬の健康状態は、老犬のほうが、若いときよりも早く変化します。 犬は、存在する可能性のある病気や疾患を隠すことに非常に優れています。高齢の犬によく見られる問題には、聴力または視力の低下、関節の問題、関節炎、認知症、心臓病、腎臓病、癌、腫瘍などがあります。 健康診断は、シニア犬にとって特に重要です。診断で問題が早期発見できれば、永続的な損傷が発生する前に、コントロールし、治療するための手段を素早く選択することができるのです。

Why Senior Cat Needs Regular Check-ups?

As cats age, regular veterinary care can ensure the optimal health and quality of life.

Like people, aging cats are often faced with a wide variety of age-related. They tend to be less active and playful, they may sleep more, gain or lose weight, and have trouble reaching their favorite places.  Illness and disease could be lurking undetected in your senior cat.

Cats are known for hiding pain, injuries, and illness, so regular physical exams and diagnostic tests are crucial for finding problems not visible to the naked eye.

Senior cats are at greater risk for kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, cancer and many other age-related problems. Regular check-up can contribute to early detection and preventions of diseases and serious conditions.

Why Senior Dog Needs Regular Check-ups?

As a general rule, dogs over the age of seven to eight are considered to be senior. On average, dogs age seven times faster than humans, meaning by their health status changes faster than their younger counterparts.

Dogs are very good at masking illness and disease that may be present. Issues common in senior dogs include hearing or vision loss, joint problems, arthritis, dementia, heart disease, kidney disease, cancer and tumors.

Wellness testing is particularly important in senior dogs, since it will detect any issues early on then steps can often be taken to manage or correct the problem before permanent damage occurs.
